Substantial, delicious and warming: the time for delectable stews and soups is here. Stews are tasty and very healthy, too. They are rich in nutrients and allow you to get creative, adding lots of different colours and flavours. A homemade soup packed with herbs and vegetables often works wonders when the temperature drops. It’s just as well that you have your Monsieur Cuisine, which allows you to whip up hotpots that are bound to delight soup-lovers.
Homemade traditional lentil soup remains a firm favourite. Our take on it has spices and herbs like coriander, cumin and mint, for an extra special something. The king of soups has to be Potato soup – a creamy classic that always tastes sublime. Add some smoked bacon or little meatballs to make it even heartier. Red and yellow sweet peppers, green French beans and leek all go into the gloriously colourful Colourful country casserole with lemony sour cream. A dab of lemon-flavoured soured cream gives the dish a little zing. Less colourful but perfectly traditional is our Green bean stew, which can be bulked up with boiling meat, ground pork or bacon. If you fancy it, you can even throw them all in. While potatoes are a standard ingredient in soups, rice is a less common inclusion. Does it work? We certainly think so! Find out for yourself by making our Red pepper and rice soup with meatballs.
