- Put 175 ml water at room temperature in the blender jug, crumble in the yeast and add the sugar. With the measuring beaker in place, warm for 3 minutes/speed setting 2/37 °C.
- Add the sieved flour and 1½ teaspoons of salt, and, with the measuring beaker in place, process with the knead button until you have a smooth dough.
- Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover with a clean tea towel and leave to prove for 45 minutes at room temperature.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 8 pieces. Shape each of these into balls, then press them flat with your hand. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large frying pan and lay 4 of the flattened dough discs in it. Fry for about 6 minutes on each side until golden. Do the same with the remaining discs of dough.
These pan-fried breads taste great warm or cold.
