- Pre-heat the oven to 150 °C. Wash the bottle in the dishwasher. Leave it to dry in the oven for 30 minutes and then stand it upside down on a clean kitchen towel until ready for filling.
- Peel the onion and the garlic. Wash and trim the chilli pepper, chop roughly into pieces and purée in the blender jug for 10 seconds/speed setting 8. Add the olive oil and sauté using the roast button/3 minutes. Add the sugar and allow to caramelize using the roast button/3 minutes.
- Add the tomato purée, the tomato paste and the rest of the ingredients and leave to cook for 20 minutes/100 °C/speed setting 1 without the measuring cup in place. As a splash guard you can place the cooking insert on the lid. Season and leave to simmer a further 10 minutes/100 °C/speed setting 1 if required. Then pour into the bottle. Wipe away any spills around the rim right away using a clean cloth. Seal the bottle immediately. The barbecue sauce will keep in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.
